Physiotherapy in TMJ
disorders
Disorders of the temporomandibular (jaw) joint and improper function or overuse of the masticatory muscles lead to unpleasant pain in the jaw or ear area.
Painful mouth opening is often ignored for a long time, while it´s very limiting in food consumption, oral hygiene or longer conversations.
Let's check your jaw joints and muscles, which fundamentally influence their function.
What to do with pain in TMJ?
Do you feel pain when opening the mouth, chewing, or even at rest? Is the pain spreading around the ears or to the teeth? Do you suffer from tinnitus (noises in your ears), neck pain, or migraine? Do you feel that you cannot open your mouth fully, or do you notice an audible popping sound when you open it?
With a frequency of movement of 2000 times per day, the TMJ is the most used joint in our body. Due to the close connection between the jaw joint, cervical spine, and general body posture, over time, difficulties can manifest themselves in more distant parts of our body.
Physiotherapy treatment can help restore natural joint movement, proper muscle function, and bring relief and get rid of long-term pain.
